Stand up for farmers during Fairtrade Fortnight 2016

Published on: Monday, 29-February-2016

Knowsley Council is once again supporting Fairtrade Fortnight 2016 (29 February – 13 March) by encouraging residents to ‘Sit down for breakfast and stand up for farmers.’

The campaign urges people to eat Fairtrade products for breakfast – items including Fairtrade coffee, tea or orange juice. They can also organise a Fairtrade breakfast themselves, or attend an event in their local community.
This year’s Fairtrade Fortnight aims to highlight the fact that millions of farmers and workers who are feeding the world are themselves going hungry; and when farmers are paid a fairer price they can have more control over their lives and feed their families.
There are lots of Fairtrade products available to buy, so just have a look for the Fairtrade logo when you next go shopping.
