Knowsley will welcome the return of The Tour of Britain for a third year in succession this September, when the race returns to the borough on Monday, 8 September. Further information is available in our frequently asked questions.

Knowsley will host the start of Stage Two of The Tour, as 18 of the world’s top professional teams, including the likes of Team Sky, depart from Knowsley Safari, for the second day of racing.

The race commences at 10:15am and over one hundred of the world's top cyclists will travel through parts of the borough, including Prescot and Huyton town centres.

The Tour will depart from Knowsley Safari Park at approximately 10.15am, travelling left onto the Prescot bypass, turn right onto St Helens Road, right onto High Street, left onto Church Street, through Market Place, onto Sewell Street, Cables Way, Carr Lane and left onto Huyton Lane. It will then travel along Archway Road, turning left onto Tarbock Road and right onto Whitefield Lane turning left at the end. Riders will then travel along Netherley Road, turn left onto Water Lane, continuing onto Alder Lane, turning right onto Cronton Road, travelling into Halton before continuing to Llandudno.

There will be lots of activities taking place before and after the race at Knowsley Safari, including a cycling village, various shows plus the Safari drive itself.

In addition, you will have an opportunity to see the riders before the race commences.

Last entry to Knowsley Safari is 9:45 (a £5 car parking charge will apply) and it will re-open again after the race has departed.

Rolling road closures will be in operation along the route which may result in delays of approximately 15-20 minutes along the route.
