Real Nappy Week

Published on: Monday, 14-April-2014

It’s Real Nappy Week – 28 April to 4 May - and Knowsley parents are being encouraged to ditch the disposables and try out real nappies.

Knowsley Council’s Environment Team is launching its ‘Real Nappy Deal’ which offers parents the chance to try out a real nappy trial pack.

Costing £12, the packs include a re-usable nappy cover, a cotton nappy and a biodegradable nappy liner.

The team will be promoting the packs during town centre road shows at Huyton on Wednesday, 30 April and Kirkby on Friday, 2 May

Parents can also order packs by completing the form below, or ringing the Environment Team on 443 2400.

Real Nappy Week, co-ordinated by Go Real – The Real Nappy Information Service – highlights how parents can save up to £1,000 a year (Source: Go Real) by using real nappies.

Real nappies are also good for the environment. Disposable nappies buried in landfill sites can take up to 500 years to decompose, giving off methane gas which contributes to climate change.
