Outdoor adventures in Knowsley

Workers from businesses across Knowsley were getting closer to nature, thanks to an innovative programme run by Knowsley Council.

Knowsley’s Green Space Ranger Service ran a ‘Bushcraft’ trials event for staff teams from major local employers, including QVC, Davey’s Chemist and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

The outdoor adventure team-building sessions at Halewood Park, Okell Drive, Halewood, saw participants try their hand at activities including shelter building, fire lighting and outdoor cooking.

Graeme Williams, from QVC said: “This isn’t the sort of thing you usually have the chance to do, so it was great fun trying something so new.”

The Bushcraft sessions were developed in answer to the increasing popularity of Bear Grylls-type outdoor adventures and form part of a wider ecotherapy and outdoor environmental education programme offered by the borough’s Green Space Rangers.

In addition to the Bushcraft sessions for businesses, the programme offers a range of outdoor education courses for schools and early years providers.
