New street sweepers for Knowsley

A new fleet of state of the art sweepers are keeping Knowsley’s streets and pavements clean.

Knowsley Council has bought six new street sweepers to replace the former fleet. The latest investment reaffirms the council’s commitment to reducing its costs by investing in the latest equipment to maximise efficiency with less vehicles and more cost effective ways of maintaining high quality environmental cleanliness in the borough.

Each new sweeper covers 255 miles of road each month. The larger vehicles – Scarab Merlins - can hold more than six cubic meters of waste – that’s around 24 household wheelie bins.

Cllr Christina O’Hare, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “Keeping our neighbourhoods clean is a high priority for us, and ensuring we are using the most efficient equipment means our team can do a great job keeping our streets clean and attractive.”
