The brand new M&S Simply Food Prescot opened its doors to customers for the first time on 1 October, bringing 57 new jobs to the area.

The 8,500 sq ft Simply Food store offers customers more than 4,500 food and drink lines and a selection of flowers, cards and gift wrap. M&S Simply Food Prescot, based at Cables Retail Park, also features a 50-seat M&S Café and in-store bakery offering a range of speciality breads, pastries and cakes, freshly baked each day.

The store will also offer the popular Shop Your Way service, giving customers the choice of ordering from M&S.com in-store or online, with the added benefit of free next day in-store delivery and collection.

As part of M&S’ sustainability programme, Plan A, the store has committed to working with the local area through charity and local partnerships for the good of the immediate community. M&S Simply Food Prescot has chosen Willowbrook Hospice as its Charity of the Year and will be working over the next 12 months to raise funds to support the hospice’s day to day running.

Stuart Williams, Store Manager, said: “It’s great to finally welcome customers into the store and show them what we have been working on for the past few months. M&S Simply Food Prescot will provide local customers with a great new shopping experience, with a wide selection of quality M&S food, flowers cards and gift wrap, as well as a 50-seat M&S Café and in-store bakery. We look forward to welcoming customers into the store over the weeks and months to come.”

Pat Worrall, 65 from St Helens, was the first customer through the doors at M&S Simply Food Prescot. She said: "I've really been looking forward to coming to see the new store here in Prescot and I wanted to be the first customer through the door to see what it has to offer. It looks fantastic and I'm sure I'll be visiting the store very regularly with it being just around the corner."
