The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority was formally established on 1 April 2014.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority was formally established on 1 April 2014.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority provides transparent and accountable strategic decision making for economic development, transport, strategic housing and employment and skills functions. It is focused entirely on strategic governance to facilitate economic growth.

The Combined Authority will discharge the thematic functions through the following arrangements:-

Strategic Transport Merseytravel Committee
Strategic Housing and Land Based Assets Liverpool City Region Strategic Board
Strategic Employment and Skills Liverpool City Region Employment and Skills Board

The Merseytravel Committee is a committee of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.  Further information regarding meetings and membership of the Merseytravel Committee is available on Merseytravel’s website.

In addition, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has established a Scrutiny Panel, which:-

  • Provides a ‘critical friend’ to policy and strategy development
  • Undertakes scrutiny reviews into areas of strategic importance for the people of the Liverpool City Region
  • Monitors the delivery of the Authority’s strategic plan
