Judges at last night’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards
handed Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park a ‘Highly Commended’ in
the ‘Performance Venue of the Year’ award.
The recognition is a great accolade for the venue, which has
been opened since 2011 and has hosted a varied programme of events
ever since.
The flexible performance space has proven popular with local
families as well as visitors from further away – offering a mix of
entertainment including children’s shows, thought-provoking dramas,
high octane sports shows and family pantomimes.
The overall winner of Performance Venue of the Year was
Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse. The other nominees were Liverpool
Empire Theatre, the Lantern Theatre Liverpool and the Liverpool
Philharmonic Hall.
Cllr Andy Moorhead, Leader of Knowsley Council said: “Simply
being shortlisted alongside the likes of the Liverpool Empire,
Everyman and Playhouse and the Philharmonic is an achievement in
itself.
“To be highly commended in that category is a great endorsement
of the high quality venue that we are lucky enough to have right
here in Knowsley.”
