Have your say on developing Knowsley

Published on: Friday, 19-September-2014

Knowsley Council is holding public consultations on a number of key planning documents.

The purpose of these documents is to help determine how Knowsley will develop in the future. This includes building more homes, creating more jobs, improving green spaces and supporting economic development and growth in the borough.

The following consultations all start on Friday 19 September and further details are available at www.knowsley.gov.uk/LocalPlan:

Knowsley’s emerging Local Plan Core Strategy sets out a vision and strategy for the development of Knowsley and its communities up to 2028.

Following public hearings in November 2013 and July 2014, residents and businesses now have an opportunity to comment on proposed changes to the plan, known as ‘modifications’.

These changes include the earlier release of some sites from the green belt to meet needs for new homes and jobs in Knowsley.

Comments on changes to the Local Plan Core Strategy must be received in writing by 12 noon on Friday 14 November.

Further information will be available at the following drop in events:

  • Bowring Park - National Wildflower Centre, 1 October, 4pm – 7pm
  • Prescot - Knowsley Park Centre for Learning, 2 October, 4pm – 7pm
  • Whiston - George Howard Centre, 3 October, 4pm – 7pm
  • Halewood - Halewood Centre, 6 October, 4pm – 7pm
  • Kirkby - Kirkby Leisure Centre, 8 October, 4pm – 7pm
  • Huyton - Hillside Neighbourhood Centre, 9 October, 4pm – 7pm
  • Knowsley - Knowsley Village Hall, 23 October, 4pm – 7pm

Knowsley is also asking for comments and views on future Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) covering three large proposed Sustainable Urban Extensions at:

  • Knowsley Lane, Huyton
  • East of Halewood
  • South of Whiston and land south of M62

These SPDs will provide guidance to help ensure that the detail of any future development will benefit these areas and fully considers any impacts on the community.

A survey is available to complete and return by 12 noon on Friday 14 November 2014.

To help implement the Local Plan the Council is also consulting on three draft  Supplementary Planning Documents covering the design of new development, new housing and shop fronts.

The draft Knowsley Industrial and Business Parks: Local Development Order will support the regeneration of this key economic area by granting planning consent for certain types of development.

All comments on the draft Supplementary Planning documents and the Knowsley Industrial and Business Parks: Local Development Order must be received in writing by 12 noon on Tuesday 21 October.

To view any of these planning documents and information about how to make a formal comment, you can visit your local one stop shop or library where paper copies are available, or visit www.knowsley.gov.uk/localplan.
