Have an eventful summer in Knowsley’s libraries

Published on: Tuesday, 22-July-2014

There is lots going on in Knowsley’s libraries over the school summer holidays for children and young people.

New this year will be ‘Zoolab’ sessions where youngsters can find out about and get up close to slugs, snails, bugs and small mammals.

Families with under fives will be able to enjoy craft sessions whilst ‘Mythical Maze’ themed activities will be on offer for school aged children including story times, crafts and games.

Fun jewellery making sessions will provide children with the chance to create their own bracelets or necklace.

The Summer Reading Challenge is also running again this year.

To complete the challenge children need to read six books borrowed from the library, choosing titles from the ‘Mythical Maze’ collections or any book from the library.

Children taking part collect stickers, bookmarks, key rings and wristbands along the way. All those who complete the challenge will receive a medal and certificate.

Cllr Eddie Connor, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Community and Culture, said:

“The summer holidays are a great time to visit the library with so many special events planned. I’m sure children and families will enjoy the many sessions and ‘Mythical Maze’ activities on offer.”
