GCSE results

Students are receiving their GCSE results in Knowsley today.

St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning in Whiston has seen the number of students passing five GCSEs including English and maths at grades A*-C rise to 60.1% - their highest number ever.

The school also saw the number of students passing English at a grade C or above climb by 4.3% to 75.3%, and the number doing the same in maths also rose by 4.7% to 68.7%.

Lord Derby Academy in Huyton was also celebrating, with an 7.3% increase (from 35.0% last year to 42.3% this year) in the number of students passing five GCSEs including English and maths at grades A* - C.

Provisional results for the borough overall are still being collated and will be released in due course.

Cllr Gary See, Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services, added: “I would like to wish the Knowsley students who are receiving GCSE results today the very best of luck with their next steps.

“I have written to every pupil to congratulate them and given them information about the careers advice that is available to help them make the very best of the many opportunities they now have.”
