Cancer iVAN in Knowsley

Published on: Monday, 27-July-2015

The Cancer iVAN is hitting the streets in Knowsley, helping to raise awareness and early detection of cancer.

Cancer specialists will be on-hand to identify symptoms, refer residents to their GP as well as raising awareness of the issue.

The van will be in Jubilee Park on Tuesday, 4 August, from 1pm to 4pm, at the Knowsley Feelgood Festival, Gladstone Field, Court Hey Park on Saturday 8 August, from 1pm to 5pm and at the Knowsley Flower Show, Court Hey Park on Sunday 9 August, from 11am to 5pm.

No appointment is necessary and people can talk to one of the Cancer Information Specialists or a Cancer Specialist Nurse face-to-face. It’s free and completely confidential.

Cllr Eddie Connor, Cabinet Member for Public Health & Wellbeing, said “We all lead busy lives and sometimes don’t get around to making an appointment with our GP, but our iVAN comes out into the community and I would encourage as many people as possible to call in.  You can speak to our specialist nurses about any symptoms you have, or familiarise yourself with the symptoms you should be looking out for. A visit to the iVAN really does save lives.”
