A project to restore Bowring Park in Huyton has received a major funding boost.

A successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund will bring £108,000 to help kick start the Bowring Park Restoration Project. The bid was spearheaded by Knowsley Council in partnership with The Friends of Bowring Park and site leaseholders Mack Trading Ltd.

The funding will pay for initial works including a conservation plan, landscape feasibility studies, business plan and an archaeological survey.

The cash will also pay for a consultation programme, which will invite locals to get involved with the project and seek their views on planned works

Work on a second funding bid is now underway and, if successful will bring a further £2 million for improvements to the park.
Cllr Eddie Connor, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Community and Culture said:  “Bowring Park is an important, historical landmark in Knowsley, so we are delighted to have been awarded this funding which will help us move towards restoring and protecting the park for many generations to come.”
