Are you up for an autumn cycling challenge?

Published on: Friday, 24-October-2014

Just because the days are getting shorter, it doesn’t mean you have to stop cycling. To help keep you inspired, British Cycling has organised a special autumn challenge ride in Knowsley this November – now open for free booking.

As part of British Cycling and Sky’s popular Sky Ride Local programme in partnership with Knowsley Council, the ‘Aintree and Billinge Loop’ will be guided by British Cycling Ride Leaders. The ride is all about getting the best out of your riding - perfect for getting out on your bike and warming up on a fresh autumn morning!

Setting off from Kirkby Leisure Centre, the ‘challenge’ ride will take participants around the periphery of Aintree before heading through rolling farmland on route to Billinge. A café stop at Fir Tree Farm on Pimbo Lane will provide cyclists with a chance to refuel before tackling the steep ascent of Billinge Hill.  All the hard work will be rewarded with a scenic descent through Rainford before meandering across countryside back to Kirkby. You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins to take part, but you’ll need to be fairly fit.

The 32 mile ride takes place on Sunday, 2 November 2014 from 10am.
