Adults’ and Children’s out of hours emergency service

From 1 April 2014, the call handling and management of the adults’ and children’s out of hours emergency service has transferred from LDL to the council.

During peak times (5pm to 1am every day and also 9am to 5pm at weekends) calls will be dealt with by experienced social workers. Between 1am to 9am each day, when the volume of calls is significantly less, calls will be picked up by a call handling service and any emergency issues will be referred to the on-call social worker.

This service is and remains an emergency response service.  Calls which do not require an emergency social care response will be referred the following working day to either the Knowsley Access team or the areas social work teams.
