A Big Help for Knowsley

Published on: Thursday, 16-April-2015

The Big Help Project recently hosted its Second Annual Celebration evening at the Suites Hotel Knowsley.  The event was opened by Knowsley’s Director of Public Health, Matt Ashton.

The Big Help Project is a registered charity aiming to relieve poverty in Knowsley and its surrounding areas. Since 2013 they have run Next Steps, a back to work programme, supporting 68 people into employment, whilst in the same period the Knowsley Foodbank has fed over 15,000 people and the free debt advice service (Jubilee Debt Advice) has helped more than 100 people deal with a total debt of £800,000.

Earlier this year the Big Help Project announced the launch of Big Help Trading  - a partnership between the council, Co-Operative Electrical, Park Group and local credit unions where a range of community shops are opened to take on the “rent to own” white goods market.  The first shop is due to open later this year.
