‘I’m glad I visited the cancer iVAN!’

The iVAN, commissioned by Knowsley Council’s Public Health Team is regularly out and about in Knowsley helping to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer as well as early detection of cancer.

One visitor to the iVAN has praised the advice she received when she visited the iVAN at the recent Knowsley Feelgood Festival.

Cllr Joan Lilly took the opportunity to have a mole on her back reviewed by the specialist cancer nurse.  Following a referral by the nurse, and some 20 days later, Cllr Lilly is having the mole removed.

Cllr Joan Lilly, the Council’s Lead Member for Wellbeing said “I was amazed at how accessible it was to speak to a specialist nurse.  I feel reassured that I did go and get my mole checked out – something I have been meaning to do for some time but never got around to doing!  I would encourage anyone who has any concerns or just wants to find out more to pop in to the iVAN.”

The iVAN will be visiting Knowsley again on Friday, 2 October between 10am to 4pm at Newtown Gardens in Kirkby town centre.
