Youth Opportunity Fund
The Big Deal Grant scheme
The Big Deal Grant scheme is run by and for Knowsley's young people with money from the Government's Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF).
It awards a maximum of £5000 in grants to improve youth facilities in Knowsley and give young people more things to do, places to go and people to talk to.
How can young people get some of this
money?
If you are between 13 and 19 years old, live, work or are educated
in Knowsley and have an idea for a project that will fit the
criteria, then fill in an application form and send it off.
What if I need more help?
Ask an adult to help, a youth worker, teacher or even your local
community group. Any adult or worker you know can help you.
Tell me more about the funds
The Youth Opportunity and Youth Capital Funds are provided by the
Government so that young people can benefit from a range of safe
and enjoyable places to go including a wide range of sporting,
cultural and recreational activities and experiences and
opportunities for volunteering.
The funds made available are so that young people can control and decide how this should be spent in their area. The Youth Capital Fund is intended to improve youth facilities decided upon by young people so that improvements are made to facilities that young people want or need in their neighbourhood.
The way funds are operated is intended to increase young people's involvement in decision making and to develop their confidence, knowledge, skills and abilities and to gain recognition and/or accreditation for them.
The Government has given the young people of Knowsley an opportunity to plan, organise and fund activities, projects and events for themselves.
