Countryside and nature conservation

Knowsley Council is a partner in The Mersey Forest project, which aims to increase woodlands in the borough by up to 30% by 2020, from the initial 3% in 1991.

Existing woodlands are managed by a variety of people including private landowners, the local community and the Council. There are also a series of Community Woodlands run by the Council. Opportunities to get involved in managing, visiting and enjoying the woodlands are regularly advertised in libraries, visitor centres and One Stop Shops throughout the year.

If you are interested in helping your local community woodland group look after a local woodland area then contact us on the number below.
