Country walks

We run a number of walking clubs within Knowsley that meet on a weekly basis to walk Knowsley’s parkland, countryside and rights of way.

Due to high numbers on recent walks we are introducing a booking only policy.

The Friends of Stadt Moers Walking Group

Meets every Tuesday and Thursday 12.30pm at Stadt Moers Visitor Centre. There is the option for members to take a shorter walk whilst the others split and take a longer route. Walks generally take 2 - 2.5 hours. The group meets back at the visitor centre and take refreshments.

Halewood Park Walking Group

Meets every Tuesday at 1.00pm at Halewood Visitor Centre. The club is open to all ages and abilities - you don't have to be super fit, just have a love for walking and meeting new people. Walks take place both within and around Knowsley borough and occasionally further a field.

For more information contact the Halewood Park Ranger on 0151 488 6151.

The Women's Walking Network - Do Your Talking as You're Walking

Meets one Wednesday of every month at Kirkby Health Suite. The network provides a series of walks aimed at women of all ages and abilities. We offer a mixture of long and short, easy and moderate walks, which are chosen by members of the group. We try to provide cross-country walks, walks suitable for buggies and for bringing children, and walks for improving health.

Kirkby Community Walking Forum

Kirkby Community Walking Forum was established in August 2003. We provide a forum for new and established walkers. Anyone who shares an interest in country walking or would like to try it for the first time is welcome.

Each month group walks are organised which allow people to visit a variety of beautiful and spectacular landscapes – usually no more than 90 minutes from Kirkby. Locations visited in our previous programme include: Cheshire, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire. We also organised a long weekend in Snowdonia.

The walks are led by experienced leaders. Walks are graded and will appeal to the novice or more experienced walkers and everyone is encouraged to participate within their own capabilities.

If you would like to find out more about Kirkby Community Walking Group, please contact Severine, Paul or Helen on 0151 546 2416.
