Allotments

Taking on an allotment plot has many advantages such as providing fresh home grown vegetables, fruit and flowers. There is also a social side, enabling you to meet new friends and enjoy a healthy outdoor life with gentle exercise and a place to relax and unwind.

Please note

Regrettably, owing to the popularity of Knowsley’s allotments there is currently a waiting list for plots. At this time it is taking 3 to 4 years for a vacancy to arise on many of the allotment sites. For further queries on allotments please call 0151 443 3682.

Allotment Sites

There are currently eight Allotment and Leisure Garden sites in the borough. The standard size of an allotment plot averages 250m2, but it is also possible to rent half-sized plots if you think this is too large. All allotment sites are provided with a free water supply and skips. Many have secure car parking within the boundaries of the site. Each site has a commercial storage shed or container.

Every year the Council hold the Knowsley Allotment Competition, and prizes are awarded to the best plots in the Borough! Local horticultural societies also hold regular shows and exhibitions in which tenants may participate.

Allotment Societies

For a small membership fee many allotment sites have active allotment societies. These groups hold meetings, sell gardening equipment and seed. Many tenants are also members of the Knowsley Allotment & Leisure Gardens Association, an active group representing the interests of local horticulturists.
