Galleries

Knowsley GalleryKnowsley has two contemporary art galleries which host temporary exhibitions. One in Huyton library and one in Kirkby library.

The galleries aim to provide exciting and challenging art exhibitions encouraging positive attitudes towards contemporary arts.

Both galleries engage with the local community at many different levels and provide activities and workshops throughout the programme.

The galleries provide opportunities for non- professional artists and professional artists within the local community to exhibit their work in smaller community spaces within the libraries and through open exhibitions.

Education programme

The galleries also offer a diverse educational programme linked to the exhibitions through imaginative and creative initiatives in the form of workshops, residencies, outreach work and collaborative projects.

These involve professional artists working with community groups, school children, pre school and local organisations in Knowsley.

Gallery art club

Huyton Gallery provides a weekly on- going gallery art club for children aged between 8 and 12 years olds. The club provides creative access to the arts. The young people work with a professional artist to develop new skills and techniques inspired by themes explored in the exhibitions.

The club runs on Thursdays from 4.30pm to 6.00pm and booking is essential.
