Arts and health
Through it's Arts in Health programme
Knowsley has been developing creative
projects and events for local
residents that support key helath
priorities for the borough e.g. men's
health and health lifestyles,
supporting mental health, women's
health, cardio vascualr disease and
obesity strategies etc.
Examples of projects include:

- Stand up comedy in pubs and clubs to promote health messages to men aged 50- 65, linking to a programme of free health checks.
- Visual arts workshops for paretns and young children that explored healthy eating
- Creative writing workshops with weight loss groups that resulted in the creation of 'Through the Cake Hole: the dieting diary of Louise, a woman of substance'
- Touring theatre for young people about the misuse of sunbeds
- DJing and Graffiti projects about alcohol misuse with young people
- Singing sessions for KMBC and PCT employees that support their positive mental healthand wellbeing.
The Arts in Health Officer works
within the Public Health Department at
Knowsley Primary Care Trust but links
closely with the Knowsley Arts Service
