Social enterprise funding

Social enterprise is a business model that reinvests its profits for a social purpose.  Social enterprise is identified as a key growth sector in the borough, due to its added value in job creation, upskilling local residents and providing much needed local services.

Knowsley Council supports social enterprises in a number of ways including start up advice and business advice for those social enterprises that have been established longer.

In partnership with Knowsley CVS the Council has funded a free search facility to assist social enterprises in searching for additional funding.

Rural Grants

Funding Opportunities available within Merseyside for the rural sector are primarily via the Objective One programme as this covers rural development initiatives supported by the European Agriculture Guidance and Guarantee Fund. Funding is based on the same rural development regulation as DEFRA’s England Rural Development Programme.
