Criminal Records Bureau
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) is an
executive agency of the Home Office.
It provides access to criminal records
and other information through a service
called Disclosure. Its specific
purpose is to help organisations make
more informed decisions when recruiting
people into positions of trust.
The CRB's Disclosure service provides access to a range of different types of information such as:

- Information held on the Police National Computer (convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings)
- Relevant non conviction information held by local Police forces
- Information from the Government's Protection of Children Act List (PoCA)
- Information held by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) under Section 142 of the Education Act 2002.
The CRB offers two levels of
Disclosure, each representing a
different level of check. The two
levels of Disclosure are 'Standard'
and 'Enhanced'.
