Education and training

At the moment, we do not have a preferred provider list of training organisations that may be useful in your search for quality training at realistic prices.

We are planning to discuss with other partnerships what has worked for them. You can view the TOPSS resource directory list in the attachments below.

You can also download a training needs analysis form which you may find useful in identifying areas of need within your organisation

Mandatory training

As a general rule, the following are considered mandatory if staff will be expected to carry out the related tasks.

  • Fire safety
  • First aid
  • Food and hygiene (if staff are going to be involved in serving, preparing or cooking any food)
  • Manual handling (if staff are expected to move, handle or transfer heavy objects including service users)
  • Administration of medication (if staff are going to administer or supervise)
  • Adult protection
  • Health and safety
Other training that might be mandatory for some services would include the following.

  • Tissue viability
