The domiciliary care service within
Knowsley Council provides personal
care for adults and older people,
supporting them to live as
independently as possible, and
protecting them from exploitation or
harm.
The range of tasks undertaken by a social care worker is dependent on your individual need, which will be defined in an assessment by a care manager. You may be assessed as needing:

- Assistance with personal needs such as feeding, bathing and toileting
- Assistance getting out of the bath, shower or getting dressed
- Support regarding mental health needs
- Respite for carers
- Help with domestic chores
- Assistance with finances or financial contractions (only if identified in the individual care plan)
- A financial assessment by the Finance and Charging Team will determine whether a charge will be made for the service. Home support is delivered between the hours of 8am and 8pm 7 days per week including public and bank holidays.
The team assist older people and their
families to make informed choices.
There are five registered offices,
three operating on a locality basis
which are Kirkby, Huyton and
Prescot/Halewood. The two others are
borough wide services and specialise
in old age mental health and
intermediate care.

The service is part of Social Services, which has achieved 3 star status, and complies with the Care Standards Act, 2000 and with Domiciliary Care National Minimum Standards.
