Respite care for children
Childrens Outreach and Residential
Disability Service [C.O.R.D.S] is a
borough wide service that provides
short residential breaks for children
with disabilities, aged 8 to 18 years.
The service is delivered in a four-
bedded bungalow and is run by a team
of
20 staff with varied knowledge and
skills.
C.O.R.D.S is open 24 hours a day, and offers a wide range of activities to encourage young people to meet their full potential, whilst providing carers with a break.
Referrals to the bungalow are managed through the children with disabilities Social Work Team and allocated through a disability panel.
Children are encouraged to take part in community activities such as the cinema, bowling, canoeing, shopping and meals out. If children attend after school groups, we will endeavour to maintain the contact during residential stays.
