Welcome to Health and Social Care

Respite care for adults
Most people who look after relations
or friends are happy to do so, but
sometimes they need help and support
to continue providing care.
The Knowsley Community Partnership Scheme offers a variety of service options for adults with learning disabilities living in Knowsley.
The scheme offers long-term accommodation, short breaks, respite and day/evening support, all of which are provided from the homes of approved community partners.
Working in partnership with local people and drawing upon the resources within the community, the scheme represents a borough-wide commitment to community based services.
In addition, our Group Services provide community based activities for people with learning disabilities. This scheme focuses on supporting carers by developing activities and interests which they can participate in without being dependent upon their carers. This provides opportunities for carers to have short breaks for themselves.
Groups vary in size from two to eight people, and consist of service users, carers/families and care managers. Groups centre around common interests, and in some cases, friendships that already exist.
Group services is a carers special grant funded initiative.
