Fostering

Foster care is a way of providing family life for children who cannot live with their own family. There are a variety of reasons why children may not be able to live at home.

  • illness of parent
  • family problems
  • abuse or neglect
In Knowsley there are different types of fostering:

  • temporary fostering
  • teenage fostering
  • respite fostering
  • permanent fostering

What type of people become foster carers?

Many different kinds of people who are able to give children a secure and loving home. You do not need any previous experience but you will need patience and understanding and the willingness to make a commitment to a child.

We welcome applicants from all sections of the community, regardless of gender, marital status, disability, race, culture or religion. Training and support is available for all carers.
