Welcome to Health and Social Care

Child protection
Some children may be abused within
their own families, causing them
significant harm and suffering. Our
job is to understand what is causing
problems and help those families to
sort things out so that the child does
not come to such harm.
Working with families and people such as teachers and nurses, we work out plans to protect the child. If we do not think it is safe for a child to remain at home, other arrangements will be made. We may seek to place the child with foster carers or a residential home. When it is safe to do so, our aim is to place the child back with their family.
If you are unsure that a child may be suffering but are worried, or if you are concerned that a child has suffered harm, neglect or abuse, please contact your social services department. You can also use the online form below, to submit your concerns to us.
