Child protection - advice for young people

If you need help for yourself or a friend because of abuse or neglect, you should speak to an adult you trust.

Children and young people have the right to proper care and should not be abused by adults or other children.

Teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers and other adults who work with children are responsible for helping to stop abuse. They will listen to what you have to say and will work with other professionals to protect children from abuse and neglect.

You can speak to a social worker specially trained to help children. The telephone numbers of the Social Services Offices are as follows:

  • Huyton Team 1 0151 443 5023
  • Huyton Team 2 0151 443 5033
  • Kirkby Team 0151 443 4239
  • South Team (Halewood / Whiston) 0151 443 2114

The Police and other organisations

The Police are there to help you and you can talk to any Police Officer if you are being abused or neglected. There are also other organisations that can help you with advice or put you in contact with others who can help. Please see the related links below for further information.
