Our Priority is about challenging some of the dramatic health indicators prevalent in Knowsley. It will promote good public health, encourage independence, offer better life chances and provide safeguards for those at risk; improving access to primary health and social care through integration.

Key challenges under this Priority include:

  • Improving the health and social care outcomes of the Borough by the integration of the Primary Care Trust with Council services
  • Enhancing the health and well being of all residents by promoting independence, maximum life chances and protection for vulnerable adults and children
  • Developing effective partnerships with all agencies to maximise and target available resources
  • The need to improve access to primary health and social care services information
  • Improving the management of chronic conditions including self management Supporting and encouraging the community to adopt healthy lifestyles
  • Improving the quality and choice for all service users and carers in developing modernised services
  • Developing a workforce capable of delivering service excellence.
  • Development and implementation of a co- ordinated service approach to drugs and alcohol
  • The need to develop and deliver a Borough wide programme that reduces the health effects of passive smoking
  • Develop and implement a programme of community health awareness.
