We offer help and advice to people
with all levels of hearing impairment
and offer practical assistance to help
those experiencing difficulties with
their loss of hearing. A social
worker will assess individuals to find
out what services they may require.
We also provide assessment for equipment to assist with daily communication such as:

- Flashing light door bells
- TV amplification
- Minicoms
- Baby alarms [visual]
- Smoke alarms [visual]
- Phone flash
- Alarm clock
- Extra loud doorbell
- Telephone – extension bell / phone flash
- Loop system
Assessment for equipment can be
carried out in the home or in our
Kirkby resource room.
We also offer an interpretation service and lip speakers. These are available to Knowsley residents and their families who are directly affected by hearing loss. The interpretation service is usually called upon for hospital visits, GP appointments and benefit enquiries / tribunals.
Social services also provide support in conjunction with the local Knowsley Deaf Association to promote the opportunities to deaf people within the borough.
If you would like to attend one of the duty mornings below, appointments are not required. Those unable to visit one of the duty mornings should contact their local social services office or the Physical and Sensory Team direct (details below), who will arrange an appointment for you.
