Economic Wellbeing

This theme draws together representatives from the Department
for Work and Pensions (DWP), financial teams within Knowsley
Council, third sector providers of benefits and financial advice,
and Job Centre Plus.
What we've achieved so far
Along with Knowsley Older People’s Voice (KOPV) representatives,
the group has worked to develop services that assist people at the
most stressful times in their lives. For example, a bereavement
leaflet used by Knowsley Registrars gives recently bereaved people
a list of the agencies they may need to contact.
The Department for Work and Pensions works closely with KOPV to
develop Knowsley’s Local Service Pension Plan.
Excellent joined up working between council teams, DWP and third
sector agencies ensures that a range of workers communicate and can
signpost older people to possible entitlements and services.
Future plans
Many older people remain active and benefit the economy as well
as their communities. Links with Job Centre Plus will enable this
theme to more fully explore the employment and enterprise
opportunities open to older people in Knowsley.
