Crime and Personal Safety

Statistically, crime is on the decrease; however, the
perception of many older people is of a violent and dangerous
society.
This can lead to many older people feeling frightened to go out,
and consequently becoming lonely and isolated.
The crime and personal safety theme works towards
addressing these fears and hopefully reducing the limitations
faced by older people.
What we've achieved so far
Strong connections with the Safer Knowsley
Partnership and Merseyside Police have resulted in KOPV championing
the Community Messaging service amongst other older people and the
wider community
Access to a range of safety equipment for yourself and your
home, free of charge is available via your Neighbourhood
Inspectors.
Future Plans
The Neighbourhood Inspectors are working closely with
services and a DVD on bogus callers is being developed to
show older people what they need to be aware of.
