Knowsley's Older People's Partnership Board exists to ensure that there is a co-ordinated multi-sector approach from all stakeholders in the Knowsley Strategic Partnership to enable people aged 50 plus to live active, satisfying and independent lives whilst ensuring that the needs of the most vulnerable people in Knowsley are met.

The Older People's Partnership Board is made up of representatives from Knowsley Council, NHS Knowsley, Knowsley Older People's Voice and other local groups.

The aim of the partnership board is to ensure that older people in the borough are regularly consulted and have the lead in developing services across Knowsley.

It is vital that older people are not labelled as one single-issue group. The age range alone is very significant even before we consider differences arising from gender, race, ethnic origin, disability, actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, nationality, religious belief or any other characteristic which may impact upon a person’s opportunities in life.

Knowsley Older People's Partnership Board is fully committed to recognising and celebrating that diversity, and treating everyone with dignity and respect. The Partnership's ‘A Positive Age’ strategy is accessible, relevant and meaningful to all older people in Knowsley, to deliver what matters to older people and to reflect all of their issues and aspirations, tackling any barriers resulting from difference. The Partnership works particularly hard to include those people who are disadvantaged because of their difference.

'A Positive Age' identifies key priorities that have been recognised by older people in Knowsley.
