Children missing from care

Concerned a child may be missing?
If you have concerns that a child may be
missing from home or local authority care, there are people who can
help.
A missing person is anyone whose whereabouts
are unknown, whatever the circumstances of
disappearance. He or she will be considered missing until located
and his/ her wellbeing established.
What can you do?
After making reasonable enquiries as to the
whereabouts of the missing child or young person, you should notify
Merseyside Police on 0151 709 6010 (24 hour line).
If the missing child is the subject of a
care order or is looked after by Knowsley Council, you should also
inform the child’s social worker and if it is outside normal office
hours the council’s out of hours service on 07659 590 081.
Parents’ who do not inform the police, or
where appropriate Children’s Social Care, when their child is
missing could find this becomes a child protection issue.
