General information about student finance
The Student Finance Direct Service has been replaced by Student
Finance England (SFE). SFE is a partnership between the
Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills and the Student
Loans Company Ltd (SLC) to provide financial support to students
entering higher education.
Applying for student funding
New students
All students entering year 1 or year 2 of a course, or those who
have previously withdrawn from a course or completed a previous
degree course should apply for student funding through the online
SFE system.
The system can be accessed by visiting the Student Finance England
website.
RENEWAL STUDENTS
All students who are continuing students in
2010/11 (year 3 or 4 of a course, or if you are repeating year 2 in
2010/2011), should apply for support through the Local Authority
until the course is complete, or until March 2011, at which time
all applications will be administered by Student Finance
England.

If you are a renewal student and you would
prefer to complete a paper application form you can request form
PR1 from Knowsley Student Support service on 0151 443 3258 or from
the Customer Support Office on 0845 3005090.

Application deadlines
To ensure that you receive payment on time at the start of the
new academic year you should submit application by the following
dates:
Non mean tested applications (you do not wish to submit income
details)
- Date application to be submitted - 23 April
2010
Mean tested applications (you will submit income details)
- Date application to be submitted - 21 May
2010
