Clothing grants and free school meals

Free school meals
School meals are given free of charge to pupils whose
parent/carer receive one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
- An Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Child Tax Credit and income of less than £16,190 (but not
Working Tax Credit – see below)
- The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act
1999
Please note: if you are working and receiving Working
Tax Credit you are not entitled to free school meals, even if your
income is below the threshold.

Uniform grant
If your children are entitled to free school meals they will
also receive a uniform grant. The rates of grant for 2011/
2012 academic year are £40 for eligible secondary age pupils and
£20 for eligible primary age pupils.

How to apply
To apply for free school meals or a uniform grant, download and
complete the application form (PDF 70KB) and hand it in to any
of Knowsley's One Stop Stops. You can also post it to the
address at the foot of the form.
