Admissions arrangements for Knowsley schools: School year 2012/13

The Council consulted with schools, local authorities, church authorities and parents before determining admission arrangements for the September 2012 intake nursery, reception and Y7 pupils, the on-line section being done on this website.

Attached below are the results of the consultation – the determined admission policies for community and controlled schools, plus the admission numbers – that is the number of places to be offered at each school.

The determined admission policies and numbers for voluntary aided schools (Catholic and most Church of England Schools) are also available below and can be obtained from the individual school.

Parents have a right to raise issues with the Schools Adjudicator if they believe that the policies are not lawful for do not comply with the mandatory elements of the national School Admissions Code.  The government website gives access to a copy of that code at http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/adminandfinance/schooladmissions

Equally, groups of 10 or more parents can raise an objection about an admission number.

Full details of how to raise an objection are given on the Schools Adjudicator website on http://www.schoolsadjudicator.gov.uk/. or by ringing 0870 0012468. The latest date for submitting objections is 31 July 2011.

In addition, attached are the primary and secondary and in-year schemes. These documents give the arrangements for applying for places, dates, processes etc.

All these practical details are published in September 2011 in the more “user-friendly” form of the admissions booklets; three booklets, one each for nursery, primary and secondary. These booklets have the relevant application form and all the information parents need on how to apply for places. There will be publicity at the time about how to collect a booklet, which will be available through schools, one-stop shops, libraries etc.

If you have any initial queries about these matters, the Council will be pleased to assist. Contact: Anne Forsyth, Inclusion Services Manager, The Cordingley Building, Scotchbarn Lane, Prescot, L36 7JD.
