Vacancy for Parent Governor Representative
Nominations were recently invited from Parent Governors to fill
the vacant position as a Parent Governor Representative on the
Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Board.
Two eligible candidates were nominated and accordingly an
election was held during May. All Parent Governors were given
the opportunity to vote for one candidate to represent them on the
Board as a co-opted member.
The poll closed on Friday, 27th May 2011. Having secured
the majority of the votes Cathy Pearson, who is a Parent Governor
at Huyton Arts and Sports Centre for Learning, has been appointed
to the vacancy.
Cathy will now serve on the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny
Board for a period of two years as one of two Parent Governor
representatives (the other being Helen Baker-Latham, current parent
governor on St Margaret Mary’s Junior School). This role involves
acting as a non-political voice for parents in the area and
representing the views and concerns of parents on all educational
matters.

Appointing your Headteacher
Appointing a Headteacher is one of the single most important
tasks that governors undertake. The appointing your
headteacher booklet has been designed to support governors
through the appointment process.
The aim of this pack is to provide guidance to governors as
they work with the local authority to ensure that they are fully
prepared and fully informed to make the best choice of person to be
the headteacher of their school.
