St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning was officially
opened in January 2010, by the Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most
Reverend Patrick Kelly.
St Edmund Arrowsmith provides secondary
education for pupils aged from 11-16, for up to 1050 pupils, with a
maximum intake of 210 places per year.
The centre is Knowsley’s sixth Building
Schools for the Future (BSF) Centre for Learning to open its doors
to pupils, so that they, along with the community, can have a world
class education with state of the art technology, as well as
excellent facilities for sport, cultural and leisure activities.
The centre specialises in technology.
St Edmund Arrowsmith’s intention is to create a challenging and
supportive learning environment within which we will provide for
our pupils intellectual, spiritual, moral, personal, social and
cultural development.
The principal is committed to the pursuit of excellence in
teaching and learning, to raising the standards of achievement, to
effectiveness in management and administration and to those
processes which will enable teachers to meet the changing needs of
pupils and the high expectations of parents.
The centre is one of the top 20% performing
schools in the United Kingdom. Its insistence on high
standards has resulted in:
- GCSE results improving at four times the
national average
- KS3 results graded at A and A* levels when
compared to other schools.
At the recent Ofsted Inspection, St Edmund
Arrowsmith Catholic CfL was judged to be “good with outstanding
features.”
The outstanding judgements were:
· “The extent to
which the curriculum meets the pupils’ needs, including where
relevant through partnerships.”
· “The
effectiveness of the care, guidance and support.”
· Pupils
safety.
The Liverpool Archdiocesan inspection team
judged St Edmund Arrowsmith to be “outstanding” and said “St Edmund
Arrowsmith is an outstanding centre for Learning, committed to its
mission to provide all members of the community with the
opportunity to have ‘Life in all its fullness.’”
The Centre is committed to
excellence. Find out more
