Huyton Arts & Sports Centre for Learning was officially opened in September 2009, by the Leader of Knowsley Council, Ron Round.

Huyton Arts & Sports Centre for Learning provides secondary education for pupils aged from 11-16, for up to 1200 pupils, with a maximum intake of 240 places per year.

The centre is Knowsley’s fifth Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Centre for Learning to open its doors to pupils, so that they, along with the community, can have a world class education with state of the art technology, as well as excellent facilities for sport, cultural and leisure activities.

This centre specialises in sports and arts.

Huyton Arts and Sports Centre for Learning aims to develop each student’s individual talents and interests to their full potential. The world class facilities and resources, together with a high quality staff and strong community links create a rich, inspiring and vibrant environment within which the curriculum provides a wealth of opportunities and experiences for learning and for enrichment.

The centre aims to prepare students well for 21st century life. The principal wants them to be not only well qualified, but to know how to continue to learn, how to solve problems and how to work with others, so that they are independent, lifelong learners who can cope well with the demands of adult life and who will be able to contribute positively to their community a fast changing society and in the world of work.

The centre’s motto, ‘Learners today, Leaders tomorrow’ encapsulates that aim and emphasises the staff’s commitment to and focus on learning and the development of leadership skills.
