Christ the King Catholic and Church of England Centre for
Learning was officially opened on 8 January 2009, by the Rt Hon Ed
Balls, MP, then Secretary of State for Children, Schools and
Families.
Christ the King provides secondary education for up to 900
pupils with a maximum intake of 120 places per year.
The centre was the 50th Building Schools for the Future (BSF)
school in the UK to open its doors to pupils, so that they, along
with the community, could have a world class education with state
of the art technology, as well as excellent facilities for sport,
cultural and leisure activities. This centre specialises in
engineering.
The Centre offers the whole community the opportunity to develop
each person’s potential within the shared Christian values and
traditions of the Catholic and Anglican Churches.
It provides a safe, stimulating learning environment in which
students can grow into responsible adults, respecting themselves
and each other.
