Resources and training

We can help you find out about courses in Knowsley that you may
like to do and or to help your children in schools. If you are
interested in the Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages
(Adult ESOL) and any of the Family Learning programmes, please
contact this service.
As well as the materials on the ‘Resources’ section, the
following materials for parents can also be borrowed from this
Service on request:
We can provide information leaflets for you, which include:
- The Learning Journey
- Parents Know How
- Help Your Children Learn
Contact us to see if these are available in your home
languages.
Schools and practitioners
Borough-wide EAL training events for practitioners are delivered
periodically. These are advertised in newsletters.
For non-timetabled courses, they are usually arranged upon
requests and delivered in schools, please contact Nerissa Lea for
further details.
Parents and carers
After the initial assessment, if your child is found to be a
‘real beginner’ of the English language, he/she may need one of the
intensive courses in school. If this happens, either Nerissa Lea
(EAL Service Manager) or a member of the school staff will show you
the programme that your child will be using in school. You will be
given some materials to practise with your child at home after
school.
