Fostering

If you are thinking about becoming and
adoptive or foster parent, please give us a call on 0151 443
3958.
What is fostering?
Fostering is looking after a child or young person in your own
home at a time when they're unable to live with their own families.
Unlike adoption, fostering is a temporary situation for many
children.
Children may need temporary care because their parents are ill,
have family problems or the child may be abused or
neglected.
Some children will only require foster care
for a few days or weeks while others may need longer term foster
care. Knowsley also provides respite foster care. This generally
involves caring for the same child at regular intervals, eg every
other weekend.
We are really keen to hear from people who
would be interested in offering respite foster care for children
with disabilities or additional needs. By spending a few hours a
week, an overnight stay or a whole weekend a month you can help us
to make a difference to both the children and their
families.
If you've got room in your heart and room in your home, we’d
really like to hear from you. Please get in touch using any
of the contact details in the box above.
Could you foster?
Anyone with the right qualities can become a foster carer and we
welcome interest from people from all different walks of life.
What really matters is that you have the time to commit to care
for a child and a willingness to see them through the difficult
times as well as the good.
We welcome all enquiries regardless of whether you are married,
single, living with an opposite sex or same sex partner, of any
race or religion and up to the age of 70. We need a variety of
people to foster the variety of children we care for.
In return the foster team will provide training and practical
and emotional support.

like to foster for Knowsley Council.

You Can Foster campaign
We're eager to recruit more foster carers so
we've joined up with 22 other local authorities from across the
North West as part of the You Can Foster campaign.
Hopefully
you'll have seen or heard one of the TV or radio adverts.
The adverts use real local authority foster
carers from across the region to show that all foster carers are
different and that there really is no typical foster carer.
All children are different too so we need lots
more carers to help look after them when they can't live in their
own homes.

You Can Foster website.
