Welcome to Environment and Planning

Meadow
Meadow is the result of an exciting
partnership between Knowsley
Metropolitan Borough Council, the
National Wildflower Centre, Liverpool
Culture Company and Liverpool City
Council.
The aims of Meadow are to highlight issues around litter, waste reduction and recycling through creative engagement.
Professional artists have been working alongside school children to sort and creatively reuse throw away plastics, to construct this plastic fantastic Meadow. With links to the National Curriculum, the children have learnt about recycling, plants and environmental conservation. The project has developed their imagination and construction skills to create the Meadow. All schools have been given free wildflower seeds to plant a wildflower Meadow at their school. This further promotes the National Wildflower Centre’s message of creating new habitats for wildflowers in and around Merseyside, and further promotes positives attitudes towards caring for our urban environment.
Meadow has been made completely portable so it can tour to venues within Merseyside and other areas of the UK. As it moves and grows, it will continue to educate all those involved about waste reduction, recycling and reuse.
You can download a number of teaching resources via the National Wildflower Centre website by clicking on the link in the box below.
