About environmental education

Information for teachers

Environmental education leaflet coverEnvironmental education provides a valuable cross-curricular learning experience.

It can be tailored to deliver particular programmes of study within the National Curriculum key stages, and especially suited to the study of science, life processes and living things.

Environmental education in schools is more important now than ever as we are in the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005 to 2014).

We have produced a leaflet to assist teachers in the delivery of environmental and sustainable development education, both inside and outside the classroom.

If covers information such as Eco- Schools, Healthy Schools, School Travel Plans, Ranger Activities, Recycling Sessions and much more.

The leaflet, which was compiled by Knowsley Environmental Education Network (KEEN) and funded by Knowsley Housing Trust, as part of their partnership work with Knowsley Council on environmental campaigns and education across the borough, can be downloaded from the attachments box below.
