Household collections

Purple BinEach week 10 crews visit every house in the borough - over 62,000 houses. This amounts to 800-1000 tonnes of waste each week.

A free wheelie bin is provided for your rubbish and is collected weekly. It is our commitment to collect your bin between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm. If we are unable to gain access or experience any transport difficulties we will endeavour to return for your bin wherever possible on the same day. Where this is not practical your bin will be collected by 5.00pm the following day at the latest.

How can you help?

  • Bring your bin to the kerbside or collection point by 7am on your collection day
  • Place all refuse inside the bin and ensure that the lid closes
  • Ensure the handle faces the road
  • Do not fill your bin with garden waste, building materials or rubble
  • Please make sure that your wheelie bin isn't overfilled or too heavy

Bank holiday collection arrangements

We will notify you of changes to your collection during a bank holiday period on this website.
